Level 1

This Diploma is designed to help coaches implement developmentally appropriate training games to improve skill levels in a fun and safe environment. The Diploma has three parts, classroom with theory of coaching U6-U8, field work with coaches and field work with U6-U8 players. Coaches not working at this age group would benefit greatly from an appreciation of the developmental abilities and needs of this important age group.

Level 2

This Diploma develops on the ideas in Level 1 and is designed to help coaches implement developmentally appropriate training games to improve skill levels in a fun, safe and challenging environment. The Diploma has three parts, classroom with theory of coaching U8-U10, field work with coaches and field work with U8-U10 players. Coaches not working at this age group would benefit greatly from an appreciation of the developmental abilities and needs of this important age group.

Level 3 This Diploma is a valuable and necessary one for many coaches. The material in this course is designed to assist the coach who has been asked to step up for the first time to coach a team in competition. The course is, in part, conducted in the classroom covering the role of the coach, methodology and player development. The field portions of the course cover a variety of helpful training ideas primarily designed to improve technical ability. The field work also shows coaches a variety of small sided games to use and features a sample session conducted by the instructor. 9 Hours No
Special Topics Webinars

Organized in a series of five 45-minute sessions, a participant can earn an NSCAA diplomaa collector's edition full-color manual (EXAMPLE MANUAL) and six (6) month introductory NSCAA membership (if you haven't been a member previously). The webinar series brings together some of the top international, collegiate and youth coaches in the world and offers these outstanding presentations in the most convenient and time saving delivery method.

Intermediate Courses

Level 4

This Diploma is strongly partnered with Level 5. The primary focus of the Level 4 Diploma is to assist coaches in their teaching of technique as it is applied in the game. The course includes coaches designing a lesson plan, participating in practical field work and observing a model session. Level 4 concludes with the presentation of small side game activities that teach technique.

Level 5

This Diploma is strongly partnered with Level 4. The primary focus of the Level 5 Diploma is to assist coaches in their teaching of tactics as applied in small groups. The course discusses the principles of play and the roles of players. Coaches spend time designing a lesson plan. Coaches also see tactics taught in small games and are exposed to a series of different teaching methodologies.

Level 6

This Diploma is an excellent preparatory course for coaches going onto the National Diploma. One third of the course is dedicated to candidates presenting on assigned topics and enjoying feedback on their performance in both methods and content. Expanding upon the content of the Level 4 and 5 Diplomas this course includes a session on reading the game as well as coaching technique and tactics with in 4 vs.4 and 6 vs. 6 models of play.

Advanced Courses

National The overall objective of the National Diploma is to acquaint the coach with the needs of soccer players and provide an organized and progressive methodology of coaching those needs. Basic technical and tactical knowledge is the central theme of the course in a 6 vs. 6 model. The course includes sessions on the teaching process, psychological skills training and Laws of the Game. 45 hours instruction, 6 hours evaluation Yes
Advanced National The Advanced National Diploma emphasis is on training those players within a team concept designed to produce a successful environment. The 8 vs. 8 model is the main focus. The curriculum includes team organization and training, advanced methodology, analysis and understanding systems of play, a focus on tactics within thirds of the field, technical position overviews, match analysis and the psychological aspect of coaching.  45 hours instruction, 6 hours evaluation Yes
Premier The Premier Diploma is the pinnacle of the Residential Academy offerings. The course content includes a thorough examination of different systems of play, including: technical and tactical implications; 11 vs. 11 topics, including coaching in the game, phase play and shadow play; nutrition; sportsmanship/ethics; and a leadership component including team management, personal development and the coach’s role in game development in his/her community.  45 hours instruction, 6 hours evaluation Yes
Master Coach The Master Coach Diploma builds upon the 150 hours of field and classroom learning contained in the NSCAA National, Advanced National, and Premier Diploma courses.  All coaches in the program will have the opportunity to learn and grow in fields such as sport psychology, leadership, team and organizational management, use of technology and nutrition. 18 Months Yes
Master's Degree The Patton College of Education at Ohio University and the NSCAA developed master's track in Recreation and Sport Science with a concentration in Soccer Coaching. This curriculum is the first of its kind in the United States, and the program faculty is now accepting applications for its first cohort of students. This unique degree program will be delivered in an online format with two face-to-face residencies. Ohio University will admit two cohorts per year, one in January and one in June. 2 Years Yes

NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching This introductory course is perfect for high school and youth coaches who want to establish a solid foundation of coaching knowledge. The interactive course features an engaging interface that incorporates audio, video and text to teach essential soccer coaching techniques and methods. 5 hours (Online)
High School Diploma

·         The High School Coaches Diploma combines most of the elements of the twelve hour Leadership and Management and Systems and Tactics courses.  The course also introduces a variety of coaching methodologies for use in field sessions for training high school players.  Through both lectures and guided peer discussions, the course addresses leadership and management issues specific to coaches of boys and girls high school teams.

Director of Coaching Diploma

The Director of Coaching Diploma is a 21-hour course designed to address the issues confronting the Director of an American club. The curriculum has been created in cooperation with US Club Soccer. It examines the technical, conceptual, leadership and administrative skills of future and current Directors of Coaching for youth soccer clubs for the purpose of developing the American soccer player. This is accomplished through a curriculum rich in application and theory and will focus on organizational structure, methods of coaching, leadership theory, evaluation and development of coaches and players and fiscal, legal and moral responsibility. Candidates will understand each of the individual units of the club as well as the interrelationship of those parts to achieve the specific goals and objectives of a youth soccer club.
