Marvin Smith


Director of Coaching, Baton Rouge Soccer Association (La.)

Marvin Smith is the State Director for Louisiana. In this role, he has done a great job of increasing the number of NSCAA coaching courses taught in the area. He has taught many NSCAA coaching courses, including the national diploma.

Smith is the Director of Coaching for the Baton Rouge Soccer Association. He is a native of Trinidad and Tobago and came to the U.S. on a soccer scholarship to Huntingdon College in Montgomery, AL, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Human Performance and Kinesiology.

As a college player he was a three-time All-District and an All-American player. Smith was also a member of the Trinidad and Tobago Under -17 National Team and played with the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA) first division club Arima United and second division club Bennifica.

Smith’s coaching experience includes Head Women’s, Men’s Assistant Coach, Huntingdon College; Director of Coaching, Attack Soccer Club; Head Coach/Player, Alabama Saints – Professional Development League (PDL); Alabama and Louisiana Olympic Developmental Program (ODP) staff coach.

Smith holds an NSCAA Premier Diploma, United States Soccer Federation (USSF) “A” License and National Youth License. Since 2005 he has served the NSCAA in the capacity of State Technical Coordinator for Louisiana and he is also a USSF and NSCAA national instructor.
